more civil ways to deal with these things!! I wasn't there, so dont
know what was said...but from what is written we don't give each other
enough space and respect. Violence should NEVER happen, it is the last
resort. Everyone is entitled to a view, even an Atheist, Christian,
Muslim can and should peacefully be allowed to talk and present their
point of view to the sangat if they want to in a respectful manner. It
is called dialogue...understanding different viewpoints, sharing
experiences, challenging thoughts, seeking sangat guidance and
opinions... Police should be involved with such incidents sadly. Zero
tolerance on violence. Parbandaks should also be careful that people
presenting do so without obvious malice and controversial issues that
they know will spark violence (even though this should not happen
anywhere anytime) should be avoided at all cost.

As i have observed on a few previous occasions such a this one is that the asking of questions will never work. The committee suggests that the sangat write their questions on a piece of paper which will be answered by the parchark on stage. But you cannot cross question and just sit and take what he says.

Ajmer Singh Randhawa ਚਰਿਤਰ ੭੧ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਲਗੀਧਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਮਾਲ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਬਲ ਦਾ ਵਿਅੰਗ ਮਈ ਕਿੱਸਾ ਵਰਨਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ । ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਨੇ ਏਸ ਵਿਚ ਦਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕੇ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਏਸ ਨੂ ਪਹਨਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਸ ਆਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਧਾਰਨੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਇਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਥੋਰਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਦਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਕੇਹਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਓਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਹਾਲ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਬਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਰਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਬ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ । ਬਾਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤੇ ਮੇਨੂ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਏਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਪੇਹ੍ਲਾਂ ਓਸ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਸ਼ਿਤਰ ਪਰੇਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਮੇਨੂ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ ਛੋਟੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਛੇਹਰਟਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰੇ ਗਯਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਓਥੇ ਇਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਜੋ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਬਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਦੁਮਾਲ੍ਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਓਸ ਨੂ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਾਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਰਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਬਨਿਆ ਹੋਯਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਤਖ੍ਤੀ ਪਾਯੀ ਹੋਯੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਯਾ ਸੀ " ਮੇਨੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਭੇਣ ਦੀ ਪੇਹ੍ਚਾਨ ਭੁਲ ਗਈ ਸੀ"। ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੀ ਬਚਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਓਸ ਨੂ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਨੂ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਕੇ ਏਸ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਕਿਥੇ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਓਹਨਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿਤਾ ਪੁਤਰ ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਏਸ ਚਰਿਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਓਹੀ ਚੀਜ ਨੂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਓਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਛੇਹਰਟਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਯਾ ਬਸ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਬਦਲ ਗਯਾ। ਕਹਾਣੀਕਾਰ ਕਹਾਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰੂਚੀ ਪੇਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਓਹਨਾ ਸ਼ੇਹ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂ ਸਮ੍ਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ ਜਿਹਨਾ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਰੋਤੇ ਵਾਕਿਫ਼ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਕੇ ਕਹਾਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਹ ਬਨੀ ਰਵੇ। ਕਹਾਨੀ ਕਾਰ ਆਮ ਹੀ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਏਸ ਤਰਹ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇ ਕੇ "ਇਕ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ..."। ਇਹ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਢ਼ ਚੁਕੇ ਹਰ ਹੋਸ਼ਿਯਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੂ ਪਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।

doctrine "either you are with us or against us" may have failed in US
now but it is gripping many in the Sikh community. Tradition of Debate
is old and debate on this issue is also old but assaulting those on the
other side of debate and then taking pride in removing turbans is a
recent phenomena. There is another recent phenomena - justifying
removing turbans and considering oneself -intellectual.

turbans are removed by Panjab police and badal is silent on this issue
but the loose turbans which are just kept on heads and not tied properly
falls down in a clash easily. I never watched if a turban of a Sikh of
either side is ever removed deliberately by any Sikh.

justification for assault inside gurudwara still here recalling a few
examples- Do u remember A S Makkar's turban
was taken away by SAD Mann activists a few years back, Mann and other
turbans were removed by SAD's Lathmars in Ludhiana and these were taken
atop sticks as war trophies, in another function Mann Dal's activists
were badly thrashed and their turbans fell or removed in a function near
Amritsar. I wonder that a learned person like you remains blissfully
unaware of these incidents.

examples are being set that if French government and different airport
authorities really start looking into these examples, Sikhs can be left
wondering how to answer if they start citing these examples to reject
the claim that turban can't be removed
at a public place by any other person that it carries a lot of
significance. That too when many considering themselves intellectuals
and great Sikhs, who are always right, are justifying the assault and

Jaspreet Bains Debate
is healthy in the correct format, and location. The main Darbar hall is
not the place for it. I lost my cool on the day towards the committee
they are miscreants out to stir the sangat . The first Singh was not
violent. He stood up and asked the
speaker to stop. The committee and their supporters yelled loudly back
at him. He sat back down. Speaker continued. The same Singh stood back
up again and again asked for it to stop. This brought back a harsh
reaction from Committee and certain sangat members. I heard the language
used. Things escalated from there as others stepped in either side.
Proceedings were halted and Ardas conducted. Another minor verbal
exchange on the steps outside of the Hall. As I know little on the topic
itself i am happy to learn just elsewhere. Time to stop buying houses
and build a hall which can be used for elections, debate, speakers etc.
Let the Sangat visit guru ji in peace. My apologies for losing my temper
in the presence of Guru Ji.

agree more...every time a speaker comes there is always hundreds paid
for either glenwood or stanhope or facilities elsewhere. 1.8 m dollars
is every years' revenue there so dont understand why a simple lecture
hall or facilities of that nature cant
be bought. For me personally even if the debate is in main hall as long
as malicious language is not used...then after bhog is also not a big
deal. Obviously many feel very emotional in the main hall...so
completely agree with you about funding a lecture facility.

Anyone who doubts poetry of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji clearly can't see
what Guru Ji is telling us. Yes it is true
that Guru Ji re-wrote with his own hands much of what is in old Sanatan
granths, why? Old granths were in the hands of Brahmins, Guru Ji gave
the knowledge to everyone. Everyone should know what is in the Puranas.
Guru Ji re-wrote whole of Ramayana, Krishna Avtar etc.. At the same time
Guru Ji says I do not recognize Ram or Krishna, I just bow down to you
Vaheguru. Guru Ji gave us Sri Charitropakhyan so we can be aware of
charitars in society. At the end Guru Ji does Ardas before Vaheguru. We
all recite twice a day this Benti. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji mentions
Ram, Krishan, other avatars, sexuality, to make people aware. Guru Ji is
the light in our dark lives. We must understand Guru Ji's Bani and
contemplate on what Guru Ji is telling us.

other puranic granths for the benefit of those who were oppressed by
Brahmins. A Sikh accepts Vaheguru alone
and Guru Ji as the Guide, the light, the truth to Vaheguru. Ram and
Allah is mentioned many times in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Guru Ji then
says I am neither Hindu nor Muslim. Guru Ji frees the oppressed. Khalsa
is Khalsa not Hindu or Muslim. You need to read more and understand more
about Sikhi.
